BES008 water filter
The BES008 filter fits 39 coffee machines in our list, all from Sage. Change it every 3 months. In a very hard water area, change it at about 68 days instead. You may see it sold as SES008. Both numbers are the same filter. Some of these machines changed fitting partway through production, so check your batch number before ordering.

How often should I change it?
Every 3 months. That is longer than most coffee machine filters, which run to 2 months.
| Your water | Change it | Who says so |
|---|---|---|
| Soft, Moderate or hard | every 3 months | Sage does |
| Very hard | every 68 days | We do |
The manufacturer gives a limit like "3 months or a set number of litres, whichever comes first". That is a maximum, not a target — so we never tell you to leave one in for longer, however soft your water is. Hard water uses up the softening part of the filter faster, which is why we suggest changing it sooner in very hard areas. That shorter figure is our suggestion, not the manufacturer's.
Not sure how hard your water is? Your water company publishes it on their website, usually under "water quality" and searchable by postcode.
Why do I need a batch number?
Because the fitting changed partway through production. Two machines with the same name on the box can take different filters depending on when they were built. The only way to tell them apart is the 4-digit batch number on the base of the machine.
Where we know the changeover point, the model page below tells you the number to look for. Where we do not, the page asks you for it instead of naming a filter — because a confident guess is the thing most likely to cost you money.
